BICKERS ACTION

September 18th, 2007

For all you action fans here is a great site for Stunt Equipment and Stunt Rigging.

 http://www.bickers.co.uk.

The company was founded by my great friend Dave Bickers who was one of our most famous Moto Crosser’s or "Scrambler’s" as it was known in his day. Dave along with Bud Ekin’s (who was Steve Mc Queens stunt double and who inherited all Mc Queens collection of Indian Motor cycles on Steve’s death) founded Moto Cross as we know it today in America.

I met Dave when I was working on a little film and had to ride a moto cross bike, my heart sank when I was told the technical advisor and motor bike supplier was the legendry Dave Bickers, but as it turned out Dave was the greatest guy ever and I saw in him an incredible talent for thinking laterally when confronted with a mechanical problem and coming up with a solution so logical it defied imagination.

Since then we have collaborated on many many films (see his credit list) and Dave also constructed  the very first film "Fan Descender" for me. This won me an Academy of Motion Pictures Science and Technology Oscar. Dave’s company Bickers Action is now the foremost in the business and is run by his son Paul. Have a look at the site and the equipment and gadgets they have invented and the movies and TV shows they have contributed to.

This is a shot in from a movie Dave and I worked on up in Alaska called "BEAR ISLAND" we had 8 of these Hydrocopters and we did a chase sequence with them and kept crashing them (as one does) so this particular day we were down to the last Hydrocopter and suddenly the supercharger blew up, now we were down to none and the light was fading, Dave saved the day by changing the engine and super charger in 19 minutes flat which enabled me to do this stunt and get us all back on the Russian liner that was our home for the shoot and we cruised off to the next location overnight. This is just a small example of Dave Bickers incredible knowledge and skill and contribution to the worldwide film business

“BELLA ISABELLA”

September 17th, 2007

Here is a snap of lovely Isabella Leong. She is looking suitably disheveled because she had just finished one of her fight scenes but she still looks gorgeous as you can all see.

Pretty soon now she will be off to China to continue the adventure but before then she has a big hand to hand fight scene in the studios here in Montreal. Hopefully I will post some more pictures before we go to China otherwise they will be from the location there. I will also post a shot of Luke ford who I think is set to be the new young action hero after "MUMMY 3" is released.

“CONGRATULATIONS”

Congratulations BARBARA & ROB on the incredibly exciting announcement of the new baby. It is was wonderful knowing how much they both desired this more than anything.

It was very moving to see the real excitement and joy in their faces when they made the announcement. Here’s a big CONGRATULATIONS from me and all my stunt crew and the thousands of people that check these web sites every day. Check out Rob’s great new videos on:

BIRTHDAY BOY

September 15th, 2007

Here is John Hannah generously helping Anthony with the cutting of Anthony’s Birthday cake and dishing it out to the crew.

CHAU SANG (ANTHONY) WONG

September 13th, 2007

This is Anthony as General Yang, he has been shooting with me and I am sure he is happy to have finished the sequence because he has been punched and kicked and hit by an avalanche and smashed into a rope bridge which breaks.

He has done it all with a smile and great integrity and not a complaint, he really is a trooper and has been great fun to work with. It was his birthday last week and the crew got him a chocolate cake with some  candles which he really got kick out of.

We’re back online….finally!

September 13th, 2007

Dear Readers,

We’d like to sincerely apologise for the reliability problems we’ve be plagued with over the last few days.

A combination of security and hosting issues brought VicArmstrong.com down and we were unable to bring the site up until all the issues were resolved and everything had been tested thoroughly.

Suffice to say, we’ve learnt some valuable lessons from our experience and VicArmstrong.com is back online!

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Kind Regards,

The VicArmstrong.com team

CANASIAN STUNT TEAM

September 8th, 2007

This is that last shoot day for my Canadian / Asian  (Canasian) stunt team. They come from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, also sitting in the front are two of my girl doubles Angela Uyeda and Karine Lemieux plus myself and Rob.

The boys have been beaten, kicked and thrown by Yeti’s, shot by our heroes, fallen of the cliff you see behind them and engulfed in a huge avalanche, and last but not least beaten up by Angela & Karine but they are all still smiling and have done an amazing job.

It has been a great shoot and next week we move on with a new phase of the action. I will write and post some more pictures over the weekend. We have had over 7000 hits a day the last few days so I guess you all want to see more.

COMMERCIAL SHOW REEL

September 4th, 2007

I’m happy to have my Commercial show reel ready for you to view demonstrating my directing skills in another genre.

It is great fun to be able to shoot “Mini Films” in 30 seconds without having to blow something up all the time.

The Range Rover commercial was a huge success and it ran for nearly a year, the Jaguar commercial was photographed by my great friend Andrew Lesnie who was the Director of Photography on “Lord of the Rings” which was the style we were looking for in the commercial. I recently worked with Andrew on “I Am Legend” with Will Smith.

I hope you enjoy this and I look forward to answering your comments.
