COMMERCIAL SHOW REEL
September 4th, 2007I’m happy to have my Commercial show reel ready for you to view demonstrating my directing skills in another genre.
It is great fun to be able to shoot “Mini Films” in 30 seconds without having to blow something up all the time.
The Range Rover commercial was a huge success and it ran for nearly a year, the Jaguar commercial was photographed by my great friend Andrew Lesnie who was the Director of Photography on “Lord of the Rings” which was the style we were looking for in the commercial. I recently worked with Andrew on “I Am Legend” with Will Smith.
I hope you enjoy this and I look forward to answering your comments.

Great Vic, now I can’t get the Navigator outta my head. Great job! I guess I can always make little cut outs of headshot and dream? ha ha…Ferny

That was a fun advert to shoot Ferny, it was done in Pasadena. The Jaguar commercial was shot in Spain and the Range Rover commercial was shot in Bangkok the other Lincoln Navigator was shot in Tokyo. Vic

Hello Mr. Armstrong!
Don’t know where I’ve been, (must be reading to much this summer) I’ve not seen any of these commericals, but I loved them.
I’ve only just discovered your site and I began from the last entry and slowly am working my way to the first entry. Your site is much appreciated. To me this is entertainment news, not the blabber they pass off on ET (which I won’t watch anymore). I’d much rather hear about the process of making the film and the fun and work involved as presented here.
I’ve loved the first two edtions of the Mummy movies and you are certainly helping me to look forward to this one (and I wasn’t so sure I would with Rachel not there). Thank goodness they didn’t replace Brendan that would have been a travesty.
Thanks again!
D. L.
Hi DL, thank you for the comments, I also love information about movies not just the blurb that is put out, there is a great magazine which comes out every 3 months called Cinema Retro written by film makers for film people with stories from the actual people that made movies like “Lawrence of Arabia” and many many other greats.
Regards Vic

Thank you for the tip Mr. Armstrong, “Cinema Retro” sounds like just the thing I’d be interested in reading.
Continued good luck to all of you on the set, I will continue to read till the end and look forward to seeing this when its all put together.

I liked the Lincoln Town Car commercial. Very Bondian, I thought. I wish EON would promote you to the director’s chair on a Bond film the way they did with John Glen and Peter Hunt before you, but sadly, the days of working your way up through the ranks like that seem to be over. Very short-sighted in my opinion.
